The Blue Ridge Trail

Mountain Farm Museum at Great Smokey Mountains National Park

When we drove down from Clingman's Dome, we drove through a pretty heavy rainstorm and back out into the clear. As we were walking around the farm, however, dark clouds started to come in over us. I knew we were never going to make it to the car in time, so instead of trying and failing and being miserable and wet, I decided to walk over to the cabin and sit on the porch.

How many times in my life am I going to be able to wait out a North Carolina rainstorm sitting on the porch of a log cabin? I may never have the chance to do so again, and there was something so peaceful about sitting there seeing and hearing the torrential rains fall all around with my camera the only clue that we were in the 21st century, not the 19th.
