Return to the Painted Desert, August 2006

Two years ago I visited the Painted Desert in Arizona. This summer, on my way from San Diego to Boston, I drove through it again. Think about how much you have changed in the last two years. Then think about this place. Two years means absolutely nothing to a place where 1,000 years is barely a blink of an eye. It gives a totally different perspective on existence and your life when you can change so much, and then go to this place and realize absolutely nothing at all has changed.
